The 2021 Grammy nomination can be considered as a great step forward for BTS in particular and of the K-Pop music industry in general.

BTS nominated at Grammy 21

This morning (November 25), the American Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences has officially announced the full list of nominees for the 2021 Grammy Awards in which one of the most noticeable names is BTS as this is the first time the band has got the first Grammy nomination in their music career.

Specifically, 7 North Korean boys received 1 nomination for the best duet performance / group performance thanks to the global hit “Dynamite“. This also means that BTS officially became the first K-Pop group in history to ever be nominated at the prestigious Grammy Awards, a huge breakthrough for this Korean group.

Previously, many newspapers in Korea also published news that BTS submitted their 2021 Grammy nominations for the song “Dynamite” and album “Map of The Soul: 7“. According to these sources, BTS submitted a total of 8 categories of nominations including 3 most important ones such as: “Song of the year” and “Record of the year” for hit “Dynamite”, “Album of the year” for album “Map of The Soul: 7”. Other nominations include “Music Video of  the Year”, “Best Pop Artist”, “Best Group / Duet Performance”, “Best Pop Album” and “Best Non-Classical Album”.

Of course, being nominated does not mean that BTS can win the award, especially when the group will have to beat many other nominators. In this category, BTS will have to face directly with Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift … with hits of the year such as: “Intentions”, “Rain On Me” and “Exile”. Whether the group wins this award or not, being nominated at this ceremony was a great honor for BTS.

The 2021 Grammy Awards will be held on January 31 (local time).
