Undeniably, 2011 is the year of Gotye with ‘Somebody that I used to know‘ which made very impressive achievements including: topping the Billboard Hot 100 for 8 consecutive weeks, 5 million singles sold in the US, 1 million copies in the UK and 7 million online downloads (with a fee). It’s no exaggeration to say that Gotye is America’s most successful and representative indie artist of all time.

He also won three Grammy Awards, including Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Record of the Year, and Best Alternative Music Album for ‘Making Mirrors’; as well as a slew of other gongs and nominations.

After meeting years ago, New Zealand native Kimbra and Belgian-born Australian singer-songwriter Gotye finally got the chance to record this duet. The song definitely resonated with the masses, as it became one of 2012’s biggest singles.

However, after his last album ‘Making Mirrors’ released in 2011, Gotye pretty much disappeared in the music scene. Eight years have gone by and as far as the music world knows, Gotye has been pretty inactive. Yet, with one look at his Twitter, it’s easy to see he has been promoting many side projects that he’s a part of.

Will we hear from him in the future? Perhaps we should not give up hope that he will release some new music in the upcoming time. Who knows!
